Colonial Footprints in Bremen

Institution

Übersee-Museum

Bahnhofsvorplatz

Founded in 1896, the Übersee-Museum long presented the "overseas" possessions of the German Empire. Many of its objects came to Bremen in the context of colonialism and trade. Today the museum is reckoning with its own history and asking questions about the provenance and possible return of its collections.
