About the project
Making memory visible
The app and this website make colonial traces in Bremen’s cityscape visible and place them in historical context. Each site offers background, images, audio and sources for further research — a contribution to a critical culture of remembrance.
The project is aimed especially at schools, youth groups and educational work: it invites you to read your own city anew and to talk about colonial continuities.
“Remembrance begins where we start to question the street names and monuments of our city.”
